Presentation

BTMS is an emulsifying wax from the family of mild primary emulsifiers. It is particularly suited to the manufacture of hair products, as it facilitates detangling. It can also be used in creams, lotions and make-up.

INCI name: Cetearyl alcohol (>50%) and Behentrimonium Methosulfate (<30%)

Properties

BTMS emulsifier has several properties of interest for cosmetic formulations:

  • Self-emulsifying agent: Facilitates emulsion formation.
  • Hair conditioner: Detangles and film-forms hair.
  • Anti-static agent: Reduces frizz and facilitates styling.
  • Texturizing agent: adds smoothness and creaminess to formulations.
  • Viscosifying and stabilizing agent: Improves the stability and thickness of formulations.

Dosage

The recommended dosage for BTMS emulsifier is 1% to 10%, depending on the desired texture (fluid or thick). It should be added to the fatty phase when hot, at a temperature of 75°C.

Applications

BTMS emulsifiers are versatile and can be used in :

  • Face and body care: creams, milks, etc.
  • Hair care: Masks, cream shampoos, conditioners, etc.
  • Make-up: Various facial products.

Storage

Store BTMS emulsifier away from light, at room temperature, in a cool, dry place. Use within 12 months of opening.

Precautions for use

Caution: Pure product may be irritating. When using it, take care to :

  • Wear gloves, a mask and safety goggles.
  • Close sachet tightly after use.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Maintain a constant temperature between 15°C and 25°C.
