We strongly advise against the use of insecticide sprays. This solution, whose effectiveness is often only temporary, should be abandoned in favor of natural processes that will prove their effectiveness over time. To rid your home of a particularly unpleasant invasion, the quick and effective solution is to use a synergy of essential oils with proven fly repellent properties.
Essential oils to your rescue
To create an effective fly repellent solution, you'll need a diffuser into which you'll pour :
- 80 drops of True Lavender essential oil
- 20 drops peppermint essential oil
- 20 drops Basil essential oil
- 80 drops Lemongrass essential oil
Once mixed, simply close the bottle and stir. The mixture should be diffused in 30-minute intervals. To avoid saturating the air, we recommend that you limit yourself to 4 30-minute sprays per day. The anti-fly synergy can also be used for prevention. When choosing your diffuser, take into account the size of the room to be treated, as well as air quality. A mist diffuser is recommended for very dry air. For larger rooms, or to treat an area of 50 to 100 m2, a nebulizer diffuser will be more effective.
The power of essential oils to get rid of flies
Lavender, rich in linalool and linalyl acetate, is an aromatic plant with a reputation for repellency, and is widely used to combat insects. Linalool is a component found in some commercial fly repellents. True Lavender's particular scent and composition make it a natural fly repellent.
Peppermint, like True Lavender, gives off a scent that flies can't stand. It contains Menthol with its powerful scent, recognized as a natural and effective repellent.
Basil is renowned for its insect repellent action and natural repellent power, thanks to its high content of linalool and other aromatic molecules.
Finally, Citronella Java, used to combat the invasion of numerous insects such as ants and mosquitoes, contains geraniol, a component not much appreciated by flies.
Mixed with menthol and linalool from other essential oils, geraniol effectively completes this anti-fly synergy.
A few precautions for use
The molecules released into the room when diffused will help create a hostile environment for flies, which will quickly desert the premises. However, this synergy should be used with caution, and is not recommended for pregnant women under three months and children under six. This aromatic blend also requires medical advice for people with asthma, epilepsy, serious cardiovascular problems or severe liver disorders. In any case, it is always advisable to seek your doctor's advice before use.
