Boils: an easy-to-treat abscess

Boils, skin inflammations caused by the Staphylococcus aureus bacterium, manifest themselves as swelling and redness of the skin. It's crucial not to pierce a boil, as this can worsen the infection. Fortunately, essential oils possess antibacterial, analgesic and healing virtues that can eliminate boils without leaving a trace.

Recommended essential oils

  • Tea Tree (Melaleuca alternifolia) essential oil: Known for its powerful antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties, it helps fight infection and reduce inflammation.

  • Lavender essential oil (Lavandula angustifolia): Soothing and healing, it promotes healing while helping to reduce pain and inflammation.

  • Cedar (Cedrus atlantica) essential oil: Helps dry out boils and has antiseptic properties.

  • Chamomile essential oil (Chamaemelum nobile or Matricaria chamomilla): Renowned for its soothing and anti-inflammatory effects, it relieves irritation.

Application preparation:

Dilute 2-3 drops of Tea Tree essential oil in a teaspoon of vegetable oil (such as jojoba or argan oil) to avoid skin irritation. You can also add 1 or 2 drops of Lavender essential oil to benefit from its healing properties.

Application:

  1. Apply the mixture to the boil using a cotton bud or gauze pad, avoiding touching the boil with your hands to prevent the infection spreading.

  2. Repeat this application 2-3 times a day until improvement.

Hygiene:

Make sure you keep the area clean and dry by gently washing the affected area with mild soap and water.

Avoid puncturing the boil, as this can worsen the infection. Let it mature naturally.
