Which diffuser to choose?

Choosing an essential oil diffuser depends on your personal preferences, your needs and your budget.

Here are a few things to consider to help you choose the diffuser that best suits your needs:

  • Type of diffuser:There are several types of essential oil diffusers on the market, including nebulizer diffusers, ultrasonic diffusers, evaporative diffusers and gentle heat diffusers. Some diffusers benefit from cutting-edge technological know-how and meet specific, practical needs. Each has its advantages and disadvantages in terms of cost, efficiency, noise level and ease of use. For example, ultrasonic diffusers are popular because they are quiet, feature relaxing lights, are easy to use and relatively affordable.

  • Room size:The size of the room in which you wish to use the diffuser is also important. Some diffusers are more suitable for small rooms, while others are designed to diffuse essential oils in large rooms. It's important to check the diffuser's diffusion coverage before you buy, to make sure it's right for your space.

  • Diffusion time:Diffusion time is also an important factor to consider. Some diffusers have a shorter diffusion time, while others can operate for several hours. If you want to diffuse essential oils for long periods, you should opt for a diffuser with a longer diffusion time.

  • Setting options:Some diffusers have setting options to control diffusion intensity and running time. These setting options can be useful for personalizing the diffusion experience to suit your preferences.

  • Aesthetics and design:Finally, the design and aesthetics of the diffuser may also be important to some. There are a variety of diffuser models and styles on the market, from minimalist models to more elaborate diffusers with decorative lights and patterns.

In summary, when choosing an essential oil diffuser, you should consider diffuser type, room size, diffusion duration, setting options and overall aesthetics. With these elements in mind, you should be able to find the diffuser that best suits your needs.

Ultrasonic or ultrasonic diffusers

Ultrasonic diffusers feature a water reservoir into which oils are added essentielles.Sous the effect of imperceptible vibrations, the essential oils poured into the water are dispersed into an aromatic mist. Some models are equipped with LEDs to create a fixed or changing color mood light. These diffusers make virtually no noise, and the water helps humidify the air. This can be particularly useful in winter, when the air is dried out by heating. The fragrance of essential oils is more diluted than in a nebulizer, and there may be a tendency to use more essential oil to reinforce the scent.

Micro-diffusion diffusers (nebulization)

In this type of diffuser, essential oils are diffused without the addition of water. The essential oils are poured directly into the glass, and the motor inside the base propels them by micro-diffusion into the atmosphere. Diffusion with this diffuser is more intense than with an ultrasonic diffuser, and can therefore be shorter.

For both types of diffuser, you need between 20 and 30 drops of essential oil for one diffusion.

Another ecological and economical solution for diffusing essential oils is simply to use a spray bottle. Sometimes a single spray in your home is enough to diffuse the aroma of essential oils. A spray bottle has the added advantage of being easy to take everywhere!

Diffusion time

Diffusion duration and flow rate depend on the size of the room and the number of people present. However, you can count on 2 to 3 minutes of broadcasting per hour and per person.

Suggested use for creating a personalized interior ambience :

  • 5 to 10 min per hour, or 30 min in the early morning, 30 min in the late afternoon.
  • In bedrooms, to deodorize the room or promote sleep and relaxation: 5 to 10 min on rising and 5 to 10 min before going to bed.
  • In a patient's room, to reduce fever, fatigue and tension, and to eliminate germs: 5 to 10 min per hour.

Precautions when diffusing essential oils

  • Use only 100% pure & natural oils.
  • Be careful when choosing essential oils (allergies, contraindications).
  • Choose essential oils that are suitable for air diffusion (e.g. Rosewood, Lemon, Citronella, Eucalyptus radiata, Scented Geranium, Lavandin, Lavender, Lemongrass, Mandarin, Peppermint, Myrtle, Neroli, Orange, Patchouli, Grapefruit, Petit Grain Bigarade, Scots Pine, Ravintsara, Rosemary, Sandalwood, Siberian Pine, Ylang Ylang).
  • Some oils may be irritating to the respiratory mucosa, or even neurotoxic if used pure or for long periods.
  • Do not diffuse in the presence of children under 3, pregnant or breast-feeding women, allergic or asthmatic persons.
  • Do not diffuse overnight in the presence of a sleeping person.
  • Place the diffuser in such a way that people do not receive the spray directly on their face or eyes.
  • Always keep your diffuser and essential oil bottles out of the reach of children.
  • Don't forget your pets, who may also be sensitive to diffusion.
