Which essential oils for white teeth?

Teeth often lose their brightness over time, tending to yellow or stain.diet, but also smoking and oral hygiene have an impact on the color of teeth, which can gradually turn gray or yellow. But you can also have less-than-white teeth simply for genetic reasons.

Which essential oils for fresh breath?

For oral care, it's best to use essential oils with antibacterial and anti-infectious properties, ideally with a pleasant taste. After that, it's up to you to decide what you prefer and what's available in your care kit!

Use

Simply place a small amount of toothpaste on your toothbrush, then add one drop (and only one) of the essential oil of your choice.

Except for cinnamon and clove, which should be diluted in more toothpaste because of their dermocaustic effect. Use the equivalent of a tablespoon of toothpaste in which you dilute 1 drop of these two essential oils. Stir well to dissolve. Brush your teeth as usual.

Instead of toothpaste, you can also use aloe vera gel, which is particularly recommended for sensitive teeth and gums. Lemon and tea tree essential oils can also be poured directly onto the toothbrush, provided you limit yourself to just 1 drop.

How do I make my own toothpaste with essential oils?

It's easy to make your own toothpaste with essential oils. All you need to do is mix a few basic natural ingredients in a jar or measuring jug.

Homemade coconut oil toothpaste recipe:

  • 3 tablespoons organic coconut oil
  • 3 tablespoons baking soda
  • max. 15 drops essential oil of your choice
    (e.g. 10 drops peppermint essential oil, 4 drops lemon essential oil)

You can replace coconut oil with sesame oil, which is also good for oral hygiene and gives a more fluid texture than coconut oil, which tends to set at temperatures below 24°C.

Recipe for homemade sodium bicarbonate and glycerine toothpaste

Very mild, it's even suitable for people with sensitive gums. It cleans teeth gently but effectively.

Ingredients:

  • 3.2 g Sodium bicarbonate
  • 50 g Calcium carbonate
  • 30.5 g Vegetable glycerine
  • 0.4 g Organic Arnica extract-CO2
  • 0.42 g Rosemary CO2-extract
  • 5 drops Lemon essential oil
  • 3 drops Peppermint essential oil

Active ingredients

  • Extract-CO2 Arnica bio has an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and healing action.
  • Rosemary CO2-extract is an anti-oxidant and also acts as a natural preservative.
  • Lemon and Peppermint essential oils: purifying and toning. Mint gives you fresh breath.
  • Calcium carbonate acts as a natural binding and abrasive agent, while sodium bicarbonate cleans and whitens tooth enamel. It also helps neutralize acid attacks.
  • Vegetable glycerine acts as a binder and humectant.

Preparation

In a beaker or bowl, weigh out the calcium carbonate and sodium bicarbonate and mix with a spatula. Add the glycerine and mix until smooth. Once the mixture is homogeneous, weigh and add the CO2 extracts and essential oils one by one, mixing between each addition.
Pack in a 50 ml measuring bottle or glass jar (more ecological as it can be reused).

Here's a quick and easy recipe for preparing your own natural, economical and ultra-effective mouthwash: in a bottle of 250 ml bottled water, pour

  • 1 drop of Clove essential oil
  • 1 drop cinnamon bark essential oil
  • 1 drop of Peppermint essential oil

Shake the bottle well before use, and rinse your mouth with a small amount of this mixture 2 times a day.
