In winter, even well-protected under our hat, scarf and gloves, our skin is severely attacked by the cold. As a result, it becomes dry and peeling, to the great displeasure of our eyes. Essential oils are real assets for skin hydration, and naturally and effectively limit this phenomenon.
Skin, a fragile surface to be moisturized
In summer and winter alike, the skin is subjected to numerous aggressions. But the cold is particularly harsh on our epidermis. As it dries the skin, it creates dead skin cells which, in turn, start to peel off. Skin peels off, and that's not a particularly pleasant sight. Particularly fragile, the skin is a vital boundary for our body between inside and outside. If the skin itself is subjected to the aggressions of the cold, it is less effective in protecting the body from microbes and elements that can attack it. The tightness and dryness of peeling skin can, however, be combated with a few simple methods. After all, skin that peels is poorly hydrated.
The first thing to do is to drink enough water to keep dryness to a minimum. Nourishing and moisturizing the epidermis is the prerequisite for beautiful skin. The water we drink naturally hydrates the skin and comes from within the body. Cosmetics, on the other hand, can nourish the skin from the outside as they are applied. To these simple gestures, we can add another important ally: essential oils. Naturally oily, essential oils can solve skin problems by reducing the effects of dryness caused by the environment (pollution, sun, cold, etc.), the use of certain household products (detergents, soaps, etc.) or a poor diet (particularly lacking in essential fatty acids and trace elements).
No peeling, a challenge met by essential oils
Essential oils can be used profitably to moisturize the skin and prevent peeling. In particular, you can opt for :
- Bois de cadier essential oil: healing, soothing, disinfectant and antiseptic, bois de cadier is particularly suitable for relieving eczema or psoriasis. It prevents further skin peeling for those prone to this type of irritation.
- Hazelnut vegetable oil deeply nourishes the skin, softening and soothing it. Pleasant to the touch, the skin is docn hydrated and does not peel. It's a highly effective remedy for dry skin.
- Apricot vegetable oil not only softens the epidermis, but is also known to combat wrinkles, and therefore the withering of the skin caused by insufficient hydration.
- Carrot essential oil not only makes skin more supple, but also gives it a sunnier color, improving complexion and radiance.
- Sweet almond vegetable oil, widely used in cosmetics, is recommended for very dry, irritated skin. Its action is radical: it soothes the skin, eliminating peeling.
- Nourishing Argan oil regenerates the skin and helps contain irritation caused by wind or sun.
- Avocado oil has the same regenerating and soothing properties. As a complement, we recommend using the following products to optimize the effectiveness of the chosen oil(s):
- A gentle gelcleansing base for sensitive skin.
- An anti-irritant lotion, to deeply soothe the skin and protect it against conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.
- An anti-drying lotion to soothe irritated skin, particularly useful for long summer beach days or harsh winter days at -10°C!
