We often forget to protect our skin sufficiently against the cold, wind and UV rays that are also present in winter. The result is a dull, gray complexion. The skin is devitalized, attacked by the cold and dried out by the heating.

We explain how to care for your skin so that it looks radiant at the first glimmer of spring sunshine. Follow our detox program to help your skin regain its radiance and freshness.

Step 1: a detox cure

We can't stress it enough: beauty also comes from within. Spring is the ideal time to return to a balanced, vitamin-rich diet. Why not start with a detox to take advantage of the rising energy of the season and boost your body. Your skin will thank you!

Step 2: Gently purify your skin

Clay masks or exfoliating scrubs freethe skin of impurities and dead cells, while promoting cell renewal. They improve oxygenation of the epidermis and better absorb the nutrients present in the creams, serums or masks applied afterwards. The complexion regains its radiance and softness.

How do I make a clay mask?

Select the type of clay best suited to your skin type:

  • Sensitive, reactive, sluggish skin: white clay, pink clay, red clay
  • Combination to oily skin: yellow clay
  • Oily skin: green clay, ghassoul, montmorillonite clay

Pour one to three tablespoons of clay into a bowl, add a little hydrolat or spring water until you obtain a firm paste.

You can personalize your mask by adding 1 to 2 drops of essential oil corresponding to your skin type. Leave the clay paste to rest for one hour before use, ideally in the sun.

Never allow the clay to come into contact with metal objects during preparation or use, as it will lose its qualities. Apply a thin layer to cleansed skin. Leave on for 5-10 minutes, but do not allow the clay to dry completely. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Remember to moisturize your skin with a beauty cream or oil afterwards.

Clay can also be used in the bath for its detoxifying and remineralizing properties (montmorillonite clay), or to soothe irritated skin (white or pink clays). The right gestures for effective exfoliation. To avoid irritation, exfoliating products must be adapted to your skin type.

The frequency of exfoliation will depend on your skin type:

  • Oily, thick skin: once or twice a week
  • Normal to combination skin: once a week
  • Dry skin: once a fortnight
  • Fine, sensitive skin: once a month

Gentle facial scrub:
To enhance the benefits of an exfoliant, apply a thin layer of the product to a cleansed, damp face. Massage for a few moments, using circular movements (avoid rubbing too hard to avoid damaging the skin).

Body scrub:
Use in the shower. Apply a thin layer of exfoliant to the body and massage gently in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly.

The effect of a clay mask or exfoliating scrub will be further enhanced if you take a steam bath beforehand.

Step 3: Moisturize, nourish and protect the skin

After exfoliation, it's essential to moisturize your skin. For a healthy balance, it needs hydration and nutrition. In spring, opt for lighter textures such as moisturizing lotions or creams that protect against UV rays, or serums.

To speed up springtime regeneration, here's an easy-to-implement routine that your skin will love:

  • a very gentle facial scrub
  • a gentle body scrub
  • a moisturizing lotion or hydrolat
  • a revitalizing, nourishing serum
  • a moisturizing cream

These are complementary products, rich in vitamins and other nutrients that your skin so desperately needs right now. Used together, they reinforce each other's actions.Home cosmetic ideas
