Tips and basic rules for coping with the heat
- The absolute rule: hydrate regularly.
By drinking water that's not too cold (ideally between 12 and 14°C to limit the yo-yo effects of our bodies trying to regulate their internal thermostat). - Get a spray bottle: you can use our hydrosols, which you can keep in the fridge. Spray yourself regularly with it.
- Take regular lukewarm showers, ending with cold water, to refresh your body.
- To maintain this icy effect a little longer, you can keep your hair wet or wear a cap soaked in water when you have to go out in the heat.
- Avoid going out for too long or driving in the heat.
- If you do go out, wear a sun hat and long, light clothing to minimize skin exposure to the sun.
- To lower the temperature inside your home, keep the shutters closed and the curtains drawn. Open them at night, when the air has softened.
- Install fans, air fresheners and air conditioners.
Museums, libraries, cinemas, the frozen food aisle at the supermarket... anything is a good place to take shelter. - Avoid over-exertion! In the heat of the day, you need to rest to avoid raising your body temperature. If you can't do without your workout, opt for early mornings and late evenings.
- Above all, don't forget the most vulnerable. Stay in daily contact with isolated elderly people to make sure they are sufficiently hydrated. The same goes for children.
Cooling tips with hydrosols and essential oils
- An essential oil diffuser with a few drops of peppermint or spearmint essential oil will bring a feeling of freshness. Other refreshing essential oils include Eucalyptus radiata, Rosemary cineol. A blend of mint and lemon essential oils is also very pleasant.
- You can also diffuse Huiles & Sens Oxygen, Jardin Citrus or Fraîcheur Vitale synergies. They are also available as sprays.
- Hydrolats or floral waters are ideal for use as mists. Keep them in the fridge or in a cooler for even greater freshness. They're also an effective way of refreshing children and the elderly. Choose Rose, Chamomile or Lavender. --> see hydrolats
- Nuits d'Eté Geranium spray, stored in a cool place, soothes and refreshes the skin at the end of the day, while keeping away biting insects that don't like the essential oils in this synergy. Use at the end of the day only.
- A few drops of peppermint essential oil diluted in aloe vera gel, applied to tired legs or overheated feet, bring a sensation of freshness.
- After a cold shower or footbath in cool water, massage your slightly damp legs with Jambes Légères massage oil.

IMPORTANT: Observe the precautions for use of essential oils. Do not apply pure essential oils to the skin. Do not use Peppermint essential oil in bath water. Beware of photosensitizing essential oils.
