Unhealthy fats, toxins and fatigue are often the cause of short- or long-term discomfort. The liver and its partner organ, the gall bladder, are particularly affected by a diet that is too rich or by poor lifestyle habits (lack of sleep, sedentary lifestyle, lack of oxygenation).

Emotional stress (tension, annoyance, anger, trauma) also has a major impact. That's why "cleansing" and "detoxifying" your liver is one of the most effective ways to free up energy and combat fatigue, poor digestion or pain.

Detoxifying the liver: a healthy way to correct bad habits

The liver is the organ that receives waste produced by the consumption of unnatural foods or molecules, such as those contained in alcohol, medication or additives. Helping your liver to regenerate after a winter's copious intake of cold meats and mountain cheeses can help you feel better, since it's a vital organ whose poor condition has a major impact on our general health.

In fact, the liver and gallbladder act on a number of functions. They are responsible for setting the body in motion, for vital and sexual energy. They control the irrigation and flexibility of muscles, tendons and sexual organs. They influence our ability to act, our creativity, courage and self-confidence. On our ability to deal with stress, anger, annoyance and frustration, and our capacity to dream.

Adopting a healthy diet, rich in fruit and vegetables and limited in saturated fatty acids, meat and dairy products, is a necessary first step to a good liver detox.

To support this, you can take plant extracts (artichoke, birch, milk thistle, desmodium, black radish, etc.) or use essential oils.

The effects of a detox cure can be amplified by taking a daily blend of the following oils:

  • Lemon essential oil (20 drops)
  • Peppermint essential oil (20 drops)
  • Rosemary Verbenone essential oil (20 drops)
  • Juniper essential oil (10 drops)

The detoxifying synergy created by this blend will help support and stimulate the organs to promote powerful cleansing.

Simply add two drops to a spoonful of olive oil, to be taken before meals, morning and evening, for three weeks.

You can also apply this blend to the stomach and kidneys, preferably in the evening.

Properties of the essential oils in the Detox Synergy

If this blend is effective, it's worth explaining why we recommend these particular oils, and how their interaction is beneficial for the liver.

  • Lemon is a powerful decongestant. It effectively detoxifies the liver system thanks to a monoterpene in its essential oil, limonene, which has cholagogue virtues, i.e. antioxidant properties that neutralize free radicals produced by waste in the liver. These radicals, which damage liver cells, are evacuated by contraction of the gallbladder, which flushes them out via the bile released into the intestine by the effect of lemon essential oil. What's more, lemon essential oil contains monoterpenes that thin the blood and help eliminate toxins from the liver.
  • Peppermint has a stronger digestive action, thanks to the presence (between 12 and 32%) of menthone in its essential oil. As with lemon, this ketone promotes the circulation of bile, enabling toxic elements to be evacuated from the liver to the digestive tract, where they are eliminated as quickly as possible via the intestinal tract. Its tonic effect also benefits the kidneys and intestines, which participate in the same detoxification system as the liver.
  • Rosemary Verbenone contains another ketone, verbenone, a hepatic detoxifier specifically linked to the liver organ and to the action of lemon essential oil, thanks to its regenerative effects and drainage of the organ. This lipolytic promotes the breakdown of fatty elements in the blood, increasing their fluidity and thus their elimination. Rosemary Verbenone is therefore recommended for people with high cholesterol levels.
  • Finally, Génévrier is an excellent drainer, increasing the quantity of sweat and urinary secretion thanks to its aquaretic properties. Toxins are thus eliminated not only by the kidneys and intestines, but also by the skin.
